Portable Memory Sticks

Why does my Sony laptop noy recognize memory sticks SOMETIMES?

Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. I've done all the obvious things: rebooted, checked memory sticks on another device, reinserted it...etc. There doesn't seem to be a pattern or a reason why it works sometimes and why it doesn't. It has ever worked at one point, and then suddenly stopped working without me doing anything. I'm paranoid that my computer is going to crash, because that is usually what happens when they start doing weird things like this. :-( oops...that was supposed to be NOT recognize!

  2. Your card reader is at fault. Do not wriggle your card when it is in the reader. You will completely ruin your card. You will destroy all data and it will be irrecoverably lost....!!! You did not say what happens when you inserted in another computer. Did it work? if yes, your card reader needs replacing. If no, your mem. card is defective. Before you add anymore information to it, get it replaced. Usually they are good about these things and do that replacement for free. One more thing: Sometimes your USB port is a culprit. Again, need to know what happens at another computer. You methodically do the process to do the elimination. Patience is the key.
  3. clean the area of inserting it and if it preiests give it to the warranty
