How can I back up an iTunes library to a smaller flash drive?

Our computer has been having lots of problems lately, and I've been thinking about putting all of my music and pictures onto a flash drive. The problem is, my flash drive is only 2GB, and the songs I need to back up equal over 5 GB... Is there any way to compress the songs so they are able to fit onto the flash drive? If it is possible to convert songs to the information format in order to back them up to CDs, is it not possible to do the same when backing songs up to a flash drive?

1. No. You will need to get a bigger flash drive. You can't compress songs. You can only re rip them but that will reduce the sound quality.
