Can I use different Computer memory sticks together?
I just got a new computer desktop, and it had 512 mb of RAM in it to begin with (2x 256mb). I went ahead and ordered some Balistix (2x) 1gb memory sticks. And I have more on the way. My motherboard allows me to use four memory sticks, so I was wondering until the rest of my memory arrives if I can put both the 2 1gb cards in along with the 2 256mb cards?

- if you mix other pcs memory with ur own and its not compatable ur mother board will heat up and melt the memory slots but most windows programs will not start if it detects hardware that is not compatable
- if they are all compatible , yes. But watch that you dont put more memory on there than you computer can use or else your skrewed.
- Yes, but you may want to take them out before you restart your computer (like if you have it off) because your computer can look to those memory sticks for booting info. They should be fine. I would rename them individually on the computer so you remember which one is which if you are getting several of the same.
- yes. i have a 1G and a 512MB in mine
- DDR memory has to installed in pairs, you can have (example) 2 512mb sticks and 2 1gb sticks.installed at the same time As look as they are compatible with your computer, there should not be a problem.
- Sure, so long as you got the right speed for the new 1GB cards.
